DIY textured wood wall art made from scrap wood and leftover paint dark blue

I wanted art for this wall that was minimal and textured but not too basic or overdone. I saw this artwork at Target and loved the concept, but realized I could pretty easily make my own DIY textured wood wall art made from scrap wood and leftover paint.

Materials:

  • Frame

  • Wood Scraps

  • Wood Glue

  • Paint

I was able to get the giant frame for free on Buy Nothing, bought various wood scrap pieces at Michael’s, attached them with wood glue and painted with leftover wall paint I had from my son’s room!

So simple and cheap but feels like a nice hefty piece in the living room. I planned on doing one more coat of paint but never got to it (mom life lol).

I also love just painting right on the backs of thrifted picture frames in general as another cheap DIY wall art idea. But if you don’t want to DIY, here are some similar pieces I found online:
